Ford is one of the few companies in the world specialising in the production of laminate shim material and components for use in aerospace, defence and industrial industries.

Easipeel shim stock consists of a number of layers of precision foil of uniform thickness bonded together with a resin based adhesive. Once the foils have been bonded and fitted into the application the shim essentially has the same features of a solid shim of the base material.

Traditionally shims of graded thickness are placed one at a time to fill out a gap which is inclined to vary due to machining tolerances. The basic concept of Easipeel is that a shim can be manufactured to a pre-defined maximum thickness, which is then peeled down layer by layer to the precise size required on application. The principle of peeling down, rather than shimming up, makes for easier stocking, handling and installation in precision engineering.

Easipeel is available comprising of layered foils with a thickness from 0.025mm to 0.1mm, standard sheet sizes are 1220mm by 610mm. Our standard foils are steel, stainless steel, aluminium and brass which are usually available ex-stock, however more exotic materials can be supplied upon request. We are also able to offer Easipeel as a hybrid sheet composed of solid material and layered foils of a chosen thickness.
